In alignment with affirmative action policies in effect at the university level in our country, the Postgraduate Program in Classical Literature at USP (PPG-LC/USP), attentive to contemporary societal needs, has begun implementing concrete measures in this regard. These include reserving spaces in its selection processes (admissions and scholarships) and establishing an Affirmative Action Monitoring Committee.
The PPG-LC/USP Affirmative Action Monitoring Committee (CAAF), formalized in 2023, is composed of two professors and one student, functioning as an extension of the Program Coordinating Committee (CCP). It is tasked with supporting and monitoring students admitted through affirmative action, recommending adjustments to admission and scholarship selection processes, and providing institutional support to enhance retention.
The CAAF is specifically responsible for (a) proposing improvements to the PPG-LC/USP affirmative action policy, (b) facilitating communication between affirmative action students and PPG-LC/USP faculty to identify and address challenges these students may face in their academic journey, and (c) collecting and analyzing data on student demographics since the implementation of the affirmative action policy.
For the 2023-24 term, CAAF is composed of Professors Luise Marion Frenkel and Sidney Calheiros de Lima and student Thais Rocha Carvalho.
